SAL SUNDAY – 2nd August 2020

Good morning dear Crafty Friends. As you may remember last time I was having difficulties and could not post a photo of my work. I did manage it a few days later and at that time I did a follow up post but I know many of you would have not got that so here again was last times progress.

I had just finished the fish pond. I have finished this block and now also finished the small following block which ended with the herringbone stitch. The hearts I am stitching now are the first row of the following block, although it is attached to the last block so does not feel like I am on to a new one.

I am not much of a machinist and my sewing machine cost £20 from Aldi a good while back but I have been persevering and have made hubby and I another mask each (we only had one each which my daughter had got for us, but its only in the last week that we have really been out of the house and I now feel that we are going to need maybe half a dozen each. I really don’t want to be standing washing them out every night so this sounds like a sensible amount to me. Maybe some of you will tell me differently. Anyway I digress – without the time its taken to make those two whole masks I think the next block would have been finished too. Still I feel like I have had a productive three weeks and have made a fair bit of progress so all in all i am pleased how things have gone on the Baby Garden.

Very different from other SALs each person is stitching there own cross stitch or embroidery design and the group is there to supply support and encouragement, especially to those struggling with large projects. We are all around the world so are as different as our stiching. Do visit and see what others are up to but remember there will be time differences.

About stitchingranny

I am one of those people who need to have busy hands so whether its stitching or papercrafting, I am always doing something. I also love being in the garden, though hubby does most of the work there these days.

Well done, and kudos for making your own masks! They do get easier with practice. I made six for the studio so the kids would have them if they forget theirs…I have a few that always forget…🙄.

Great progress! I love that block with the pond and the flowers and critters that joined in 🙂 I agree, I’m not a fan of washing the masks each day. I also made 1 per day for my family so you can throw them all in the wash at the end of the week.

This looks very nice and I guess time spent on some masks was time well spent! I’m lucky my mother made 2 each for myself and moth however I should probably give myself a kick and make a few more (it’s not like I don’t have the machine/supplies for it !) however I’ve managed so far with just two.

  9. This is gorgeous Helen and so neatly done, I love all the little details…. those frogs are so cute! Well done on mask making, I’ve just come to the same conclusion, hopefully this week I will get time to make us a few more. I am no expert with my old sewing machine, I seem to spend more time re threading the needle than actually sewing!!

I love it! Here in Sweden they don´t recommend wearing masks, but I did sew some just in case 🙂

What a beautiful treasure you are working on. ITs so lovely. I have about 4 mask and my husband 3. We don’t go out much at all so this is quite enough.
