SAL SUNDAY – A view to a kill…

So here is the next UFO on my hit list.  It is called Garden Alphabet.  The alphabet and border were freebies from EMS Designs, some years ago.  I arranged the designs and added other bits to fill it out so that it hopefully will fit in an old fire screen I have.  Although I am calling it a UFO it was worked on at reasonable intervals until I joined this SAL when Gracious Era became my focus.  Now I am hoping that this will also become a complete work soon.  I have taken this picture this morning and hope to make a new start on it within the next few days.2017.11.19a

As I spent two of the last three weeks on holiday, enjoying some real sunshine and warmth in Lanzarote, as opposed to the dull grey and wet day we returned too, all I have to share with you on this SAL Sunday is my holiday stitch “Wildlife of the Hedgerow.  Here is how it looked after our last holidayDSCF5526and here it is now.2017.11.18The owl is almost complete now, so hopefully two or three more holidays will have me to the half way point.  So now I have another incentive for booking more holidays, although I still think the main incentive is getting away from our cold and wet English winters.

This SAL group is so wonderful and supportive and is so different to any other SAL I have seen.  Everyone is working on their own individual project (so no pressure to keep up with anyone else). There are some big, some small and some very complicated things, but the one thing we all have in common is wanting support as we stitch our way through our projects and hopefully clear our baskets of UFO’s.  Please if you are having a short break, then take the time to sit back and browse all the wonderful things that are going on, and if you would love to join us then please contact Avis (first name on the list below).

All for now
Hugs

About stitchingranny

I am one of those people who need to have busy hands so whether its stitching or papercrafting, I am always doing something. I also love being in the garden, though hubby does most of the work there these days.

I love that alphabet firescreen project. You might have noticed I have a soft spot for alphabets myself, and I really enjoy this one.

  4. I like the idea of having a holiday project. The alphabet sampler is looking lovely so far and I’m sure you’ll have it done in no time at all. We must have had all of your sunshine here in the north east. We’ve hardly had a cloud in the sky for three weeks.

Helen, I love both of these pieces! I am confident the alphabet sampler will be moving toward the finish line, but you must still be basking in the wonderful feeling of finishing your Victorian Christmas project! Definitely book more holidays so we can meet more of your woodland friends!

    • I will tell hubby we have to make time for more holidays because you want to see my sampler finished lol. Oh! but then I wont get to work on the alphabet so often. Guess we cannot have everything in life, we just have to make the best of what we get; (and with these two projects I cannot lose either way).

  10. Thank you Susan. Nature related and samplers are mostly the way I go though I do like something different to distract me occasionally.

Two beautiful floral pieces! It’s sort of a shame you only work on the second one when you’re on holiday. 😉 That firescreen really needs to be finished though – it will be wonderful.
