Stitching update and using a cps.

At last the appointment has arrived for my operation to remove the cataract from my right eye.  Its for the 14th December so only just over a week left to wait.

In the mean time stitching on the EMS Garden Alphabet did not go quite to plan, as I have given up before finishing the 2nd letter.  I have done P for pansy but the Q is for queen ann’s lace and the colours on the flowers are so pale I was struggling to see them.  However update picture has been taken so here it is.  Hard to tell but there are 5 different shades in that flower head, and looking at it here I think it will be frogged and restarted next time round, as its far from neat.

On the card front, have you ever heard of a CPS – well I hadn’t until the other day but now I know its a Card Placement System (or sketch – depending on which site you read lol).  I am a dreadful hoarder and have dozens of beautiful paper pads that I have never been able to bring myself to use.  In my bid to get my stock in better order I have said I will part with anything I do not use, but as I cannot bring myself to part with these I have to use them.  Apart from backing papers I didn’t really know how to show them off, so went on the net to look for ideas.  Whilst doing so I found a couple of people who did weekly challenges for blogs that use the afore mentioned CPS, and as they show off the pretty papers to great effect I decided it was time to have a go.    Here are the four  I have made so far The first one used the beautiful Papermania Capsule Collection – Oyster Blush.  These very pale but elegant papers have the most beautiful sheen to them.

These both use papers from a bright and colourful collection of “Booful” papers.  I felt the first was too plain so added some gems,  and I think I am also going to add some on the second card too, but on the card itself as maybe with using a craft card, it looks rather stark.

Lastly These are from an old freebie paper pad by Kaiser Craft.  It contained Christmas designs but I obviously used the more tradition papers sometimes in the past and all that are left are some lovely old, slightly distressed looking plain or chintzy designs.  Despite the lovely papers this one did need something else so I added a small topper which I felt complimented the papers.This was the cps I used for the 2nd design, and (though I’m not sure how to add blog links to my post) I am sure if you went to the Mojomonday.blogspot.com, you would find lots of inspiration.  Also dozens more of these cps designs which can be interpreted in lots of different ways.  Worth a try, even if you never use them again – though I am sure I will.
